PL100-GEO
The PL100-GEO offers all the benefits of the RT100 series LIBS systems in a compact, portable package. Using the PL100-GEO, customers still experience fast elemental analysis without sample preparation — while enabling scientists and engineers to take LIBS experiments into the field.
The PL100-GEO’s rugged hardware design, ability to switch between AC and an internal battery, and compact packaging makes it a new industry standard for portable LIBS instruments. Buffer gas hardware options enable the more sensitive detection and quantitative measurement of S and P. Frustrated by a lack of portable field instruments that address lighter elements such as Li, Be, C, N, O, and Na? Contact us and discover how we can help you expand your elemental analysis coverage into lighter (low Z) elements using the PL100-GEO.
System Features:
An integrated laser ablation system
The PL100-GEO LIBS system uses an Nd:YAG laser for ablating samples. The laser wavelength is carefully chosen to provide the best analytical results for each customer’s unique application.
Optimized plasma light collection
The PL100-GEO shares many hardware design concepts from the RT100 series LIBS instruments, including an optimized light collection optics design that couples the maximum amount of the plasma light to the system detector module. This feature enables the highest possible sensitivity performance for the PL100-GEO with respect to any other LIBS field instruments on the market.
Designed for the field
The PL100-GEO is packaged in a watertight, rugged pelican case on wheels to withstand external shocks and allow for easy transport. Its intuitive sample loading interface includes a tight seal to keep dirt and other external contaminants outside the unit. The chamber provides the capability to flow buffer gases to perform innovative LIBS research in the field. A 25mm x 25mm automatic stage and CMOS color camera deliver a wide sample viewing area and constant visual focus during LIBS data collection.
Multi-channel CCD-based spectrometer
The RT100-Ec incorporates a multi-channel CCD-based spectrometer that provides spectral coverage from 198nm to 1005nm. Thus, LIBS spectra ranging from UV to NIR spectral region can be captured with a single laser shot. Check with ASI’s application group about how to use the PL100-GEO broadband LIBS data to quickly survey and correctly quantify elements for geological, ecological and mining applications.
ASI chemometric software package
ASI’s proprietary chemometric software utilizes a set of highly sophisticated statistical algorithms to add material discrimination capability to our LIBS instruments. Proven through extensive testing of a wide range of materials with different interferents, ASI’s chemometric software package adds another level of analytical capability to your LIBS instruments, including the PL100-GEO.
Software control
The PL100-GEO system software shares a similar interface look and operation details as the RT100 series software. This is great news for our existing customers who are already using ASI’s RT100 LIBS instruments for their research and production QC/QA work in laboratory settings: They can take their research into the field immediately without a significant learning curve.
Calibration standards development
LIBS is a versatile analytical technique and, with the proper sampling methodologies, LIBS can accurately quantify many elements accurately down to the ppm level. As with many quantitative analytical techniques, the availability of appropriate calibration standards ensures measurement accuracy. With our scientific team's 80-plus years of combined laser ablation knowledge, ASI is well suited to develop such calibration standards and to recommend the optimal laser and detection parameters for your LIBS analysis. No other LIBS equipment manufacturer can offer this level of technical knowledge and application support.
